The origins of SCOTS FC date back to 1984 when a group of childhood friends (all football crazy) would religiously gather at Arncliffe Park at any opportunity to play small sided football games. As the participation grew so did the passion & desire to form their own football club , which started competing in football tournaments all over NSW.
Soon after, the club was granted entry to compete in the Marrickville Football Association where they experienced modest success. The following season attracted some of the most talented & gifted players in the region , talent was only part of the ingredients required to be a successful club the other was sponsorship which at the time was lacking. To assist with funding the football club approached Arncliffe RSL, seeking support towards using their premises to hold fund raisers in the form of fortnightly discos.
Arncliffe Disco was born , it may have been a slow start but momentum was starting to build rapidly eventually transforming the venue into an extremely successful fortnightly event , attracting 400 – 500 patrons every second Friday ,doubling those numbers come long weekends.
The success of the discos helped the football club enter the 1986 NSW Soccer Federation 5th Division eventually catapulting the club to 1998 NSW Soccer Federation 2nd Division.
1998 also signified the commencement of a long term association with Arncliffe Scots Sports & Social Club , their support & sponsorship enabled the soccer club to form & enter an All Age side competing in the St George Soccer Association gaining promotion to the premier league the year after.
SCOTS FC initial training & playing grounds were at Firmstone Gardens Rockdale and thereafter relocated to Scarborough Park North which is regarded as one of the finest playing facilities in the St George area.
Over the years SCOTS FC have attracted former International , National & State League players to the club.
Currently SCOTS FC fields junior & senior teams starting from U6 – O45 , objectives are to encourage and promote the development of grassroots football, with emphasis on youth involvement drawn from the local community.
The Club believes that, as a large provider of football in a structured, safe and fun environment, it addresses several key criteria for the local community – reduce anti-social behaviour in providing an outlet for local youth, engaging all ages in a healthy and recreational past-time, promoting respect, fair play & personal development through individuality, teamwork and the socialisation one would associate with a community club culture.
